Comcast partners with Central Arkansas Boys and Girls Clubs to Bring WiFiCommunity Spaces to Students

More opportunities for students and families in Central Arkansas is available thanks to Comcast’s new “Lift Zones.”

Comcast’s partnership with four community organizations in Little Rock and North Little Rock has opened four Xfinity WiFi-connected “Lift Zones” to support low-income families and students impacted by COVID-19.

The four locations Comcast has partnered with are the Dalton Whetstone Boys and Girls Club at 46 Harrow Drive in Little Rock, The Penick Boys and Girls Club at 1201 Leisure Place in Little Rock, Wetherington Boys and Girls club at 1212 Jim Wetherington Place in North Little Rock, and the Billy Mitchell  boys and Girls Club at 3107 W Capitol Ave, Little Rock, AR 72205

“We are extremely honored to join Comcast to make Lift Zones a reality for our community members,” stated Margaret Lewis, Club Director, Dalton Whetstone Boys and Girls Club. “Offering free internet access is essential with so many who face hurdles to getting online.”

These four locations are just part of the new Comcast program to bring more than 1,000 “Lift Zones” around the country.

Internet Essentials is Comcast’s low-cost broadband adoption program for low-income households with grammar, high school, and college students; seniors; veterans; people with disabilities; and residents enrolled in public assistance and housing assistance programs. Since its launch in 2011, Internet Essentials has connected a cumulative total of 10 million Americans to the Internet at home.

Today’s announcement by Comcast is part of Project UP https://corporate.comcast.com/impact/project-up, a comprehensive initiative aimed at advancing digital equity in Little Rock and across the nation.
